The WordGirl website is specially designed to promote a love of language and words while extending the basic principals of WordGirl. Each exciting game and activity will expose children to new and empowering words in an appealing way. The connection between language and thinking that children gain by building a broad vocabulary has a direct impact on their literacy learning, especially reading comprehension. Our goal is that your children will find themselves using new words in daily conversation and develop a love of language.

The WordGirl website is a giant game in and of itself. We want kids to feel they are actually in the world of WordGirl where they can control and play within various elements of her world. The web experience stays true to the television program. For example, the Games Page is designed to feel like an actual amusement park. Beyond the main activities, there are other classic mini-games such as “Dunk Huggy” or “Test Your Strength.”

Comic Strip
WordGirl stars in her very own classic superhero comic strip where kids help choose her adventure. The outcome of the comic strip is determined by which word the use selects. The comic strip game is constantly changing and it is up to the children to help WordGirl and Captain Huggy Face outsmart the villains. When the story comes to an end, students can print their comic strips. This game is a chance for children to feel masterful over language and story telling and will be particularly appealing to kids who may be struggling with reading and writing.
